​Intensive Care Nurse

MedGen is in need of Intensive Care Nurses (ICU Nurses) in the East Riding of Yorkshire on a part-time basis. We’re looking for highly professional nurses who are comfortable administering care to those who are seriously ill or injured.

 

The Role

As a professional ICU Nurse working for MedGen, you’ll be responsible for ensuring patients are adequately supported with their daily needs. Experience is essential for this role and you will be highly trained to treat patients who have suffered strokes, heart attacks, or undergone invasive surgery. You’ll perform an array of tasks including performing diagnostic tests, conducting follow-up visits, monitoring patient recovery, and responding to emergencies.

 

Intensive Care Nurse Responsibilities and duties

  • Evaluate and monitor the patient’s progress

  • Identify sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition

  • Deliver regular updates to doctors, patients, and their family members

  • Begin treatment and monitor doses

  • If necessary, respond to a medical emergency and alert the appropriate doctors

  • Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in the ICU unit

  • Complete all necessary paperwork before transferring a patient

  • Maintain patient records

  • Create and implement effective care plans

 

Intensive Care Nurse requirements

Being highly professional is of course, incredibly important, but equally as desirable is your ability to communicate, empathize and successfully provide the highest levels of care. We require our nurses to possess:

  • An NMC pin

  • A recent DBS check

  • Clinical experience within an Acute High Dependency or Intensive Care setting

  • Familiar with basic physiology and have a theoretical knowledge of acute nursing

  • The right to work in the UK

  • Confident, an eye for detail and happy dealing with large volumes of work

  • Ability to work in a stressful and emotional environment
