Scrub Nurse
MedGen is looking for experienced Scrub Nurses in Dorset on a part-time basis. We’re looking for an experienced professional who can work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and provide our patients with the care and support they need prior to surgery.
The Role
A Scrub Nurse is responsible for preoperative patient care and should be calm and responsive, have the ability to perform under pressure, and be an effective communicator. Ultimately, a high-quality Scrub Nurse should be up to date with the latest developments in healthcare best practices.
Scrub Nurse Responsibilities and duties
I’m not going to tell you what a Scrub Nurse does, because the truth is – you probably already are one if you’re looking at this! However, some of the common duties you can expect to be carried out are:
Giving preoperative instructions
Preparing patients for surgery
Assisting the Anaesthetist and Surgeons when needed
Sterilising and marking incision sites
Intervening when there are complications
Administering medication
Preparing the operating room
Scrub Nurse Requirements
Being highly professional is of course, incredibly important, but equally as desirable is your ability to communicate, empathize and successfully provide the highest levels of care. We require our nurses to possess:
An NMC pin
A recent DBS check
Clinical experience
The right to work in the UK
Familiarity with all surgical instruments and equipment
Ability to work in a stressful and emotional environment
